Youth Leadership
West Valley supports youth through the Arizona Youth Leadership Conference and presenting spring merit awards to cadets from JROTC programs at 17 high schools in the Phoenix West Valley as well as Scouting Awards to deserving boys and girls.
We also support AFROTC and AROTC units at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. At the schools' spring awards ceremonies, our members present and honor cadets with medals and certificates.
We pay tuition for approximately 17 students from the 17 high schools that we support to attend the Arizona Youth Leadership Conference (AZYLC) during the summer of each calendar year. The students learn leadership, patriotism and the constitution. Donations to schools from our members and the public, where 100% of donations up to the legal limit are eligible for an Arizona Tax Credit. See "Donation" for how to donate.
After the cadets have attended, we invite them and their families to be our special guests at one of our monthly meetings. This gives each cadet an opportunity to practice public speaking and for the Chapter to offer continued support and encouragement.
